### TRAI Targets Spam Calls: TSPs Must Take Action

In a recent conference, TRAI **highlighted** the issue of spam calls overwhelming networks through PRI, SIP, and other telecom resources. To address this, TRAI has **issued** strict directives demanding immediate action from Telecom Service Providers (**TSPs**).

#### Here Are The Key Directives TSPs Should Adhere To:

* Starting from 1st Sep 2024, no URL or APK links are allowed in messages unless whitelisted.
* Promotional and marketing calls are prohibited unless made through the authorized 140 series and migrated to an online DLT platform by 30th September.
* Unauthorized promotional calls will lead to blacklisting and cybercrime reporting.
* Calls should only be made with valid opt-in proof that is less than 6 months old.
* Calling DND-registered numbers without authorization is strictly prohibited.
* Pre-recorded voice messages are strictly prohibited.
